Launch cover: Milne's Towing & Recovery, now live. The Milne's homepage with the headline The road doesn't stop us.

On October 22, 2026, Milne’s Towing & Recovery went live on its own domain. Milne’s is a local, family-run towing and recovery crew working out of its shop on Highway 359 in Steam Mill, in the Kentville area of Nova Scotia.

They came to us with a few ideas of what they wanted highlighted and gave us a lot of creative freedom. No templates and no page builders: every page hand-coded, styled around the family and their trucks, and hosted by us.

The road doesn’t stop them

The homepage opens on the Milne’s fleet lined up in the yard, under one line that says it all: the road doesn’t stop us. The call button and the number sit at the top of every page.

Seven services follow, each in a word or two: towing, recovery, lockouts, trailer moving, Landoll moves, heavy towing and roadside assistance.

Their trucks, their crew, and their number on every page.

A family story, told properly

The About page tells the family’s story. The Milne family’s automotive roots go back generations; in 1997 they focused the business on towing and recovery, and on May 1, 2024, Lindsay Milne passed it to his daughter Brenna and her husband Rob.

A then-and-now slider lets you drag between the earlier fleet and the trucks on the road today, and a magazine article about Lindsay can be enlarged and read right on the page.

The trucks have changed. The reason they show up hasn’t.

The right help, and the crew by name

The services page starts with a question: what’s the situation? Six answers, from “My vehicle broke down” to “Something big and heavy”, each points to the next step. Further down, “Meet the machine” walks around the blue heavy wrecker, unit 01, one marker at a time.

The crew page introduces Rob, Jason and Chris, the faces behind the trucks, and a service area page lists the Annapolis Valley communities Milne’s serves, with a tip worth knowing: before you call any tow company, check that the number is actually local.

What Milne’s said about it

“We honestly couldn’t recommend J&J Design enough! We came to them wanting a new website, but really didn’t give them much to go off of beyond a few ideas of what we wanted highlighted. We gave them so much creative freedom and somehow they created something that feels completely like us and our business.

They took the time to understand Milne’s, our history and what we wanted people to feel when they visited our website. Every little detail was so well thought out, and there were so many things they came up with that we never would have even thought to ask for!

The entire process was so easy and the finished website turned out better than we could have imagined.

We are SO happy with it and can’t thank J&J Design enough for bringing it all together. If you’re looking for someone to build a website for your business, we would 100% recommend them!”

The short version

What a towing website should do.

  1. Put the number everywhere. At the top of every page, and the same number as on the trucks and the sign.
  2. Tell the family story. Generations of the Milne name, with the fleet then and now.
  3. Show the people. Rob, Jason and Chris by name, so you know who is pulling up.
